They will simply feel very relaxed, “floaty,” and perhaps a little giggly, hence the name “laughing gas.” It also helps dull the sensation of the local anesthetic (the “sleepy juice”).

One of the biggest benefits of laughing gas is how quickly it wears off. Once the procedure is finished and we turn off the gas, your child will breathe pure oxygen for about five minutes. By the time they leave our Gardner office, the effects will be completely gone. There is no “hangover” or lingering grogginess, and they can return to school or play immediately.
